Northern Oak Woodland
The Northern Oak Woodland is representative of native shrubs, perennials, and vines that are adapted to live underneath the canopy of native coast live oaks. These understory plants are well adapted to the same climatic conditions as the oak, providing for an amazing variety of colors and textures for waterwise native landscaping under urban oaks. Perennials such as the fuchsia-flowering gooseberry, California coffeeberry, and creeping snowberry provide berries for migrating warblers, thrushes, and tanagers.
