Coniferous Forest
Coniferous forests are an integral component of Mediterranean plant communities such as chaparral and mixed oak woodlands. Native conifers such as the bigcone spruce, giant sequoia, and Torrey pine, the rarest native pine in the United States, do well in low elevations and are an adaptable addition to California friendly gardens.
